Dr. Shyamala Venkatakrishnan

Early Life

Born in Mumbai but came to chennai at the age of 10 after my father's death. Did my schooling and under graduation in chennai. I am an B.A. in economics graduate. After my marriage I was only a home maker for 30 years. 

Acupressure Interest

Later on I came to know about diabetic problem, I started taking allopathic medicine under the guidance of allopathy doctors. One day my husband's friend informed me about Dr.Jayalakshmi , who is a famous acupressurist in T.Nagar , I met for my diabetic problem. She told me the points to be pressed daily. After doing this homework, I checked my sugar level. To my surprise it was well under control. In my next sitting she narrated about the class she was conducting.
I joined the class immediately . It was very interesting and she gave me training in her clinic for about 3 years. She made me an ATAMA Life Member, which is in Karaikudi. Then she subsequently encouraged me to do Masters(Acu) and MD(Acu).Now I am practicing at home independently.

Speeches

• I through Mr. Chidambaram gave a talk about Acupressure at Dignity Foundation. Many people attended the meeting and found this self treatment very useful and very effective. This made dignity foundation people to honor me for Acupressure. 

• I have given a lecture on Acupressure at Lions Club,Perimed and Lions Club, Chepauk.

My Facility

I got facilitated by Kalashetra Natiya Archarya Dr.Dhanjanyan in June 2011. 

Articles and Publications

I started writing in 'Chennai Osai' from March 2011 about the treatment for ailments like B.P, Diabetics,back pain, neck pain, hernia etc. in Tamil. 

TNagar Talk magazine also published me under the title "Pain relief at no cost" in April 2011 and new year 2012. 

Voluntary Services 

1.  Gave lecture on Apr 11 @ Silver pearls on Women's day

2.  Performed health check up at Hotel Sabari Inn in March 2011

3.  Gave lecture about acupuncture on Aug 19 @ Sanju women's welfare association - Topic was "On Health @ finger's tips"

4. Conducted free camp at KKNagar ayyapan temple every month first Sunday.

5. Conducted free camp at Kovilambakkam on March 8th.

Continuous Learning

• Now my 2nd stage in Acupuncture is about "Mudras".

Regarding Family:

My husband L.S. VenkataKrishnan is working in nationalized bank. 

My son is in US with his family and my daughter is working in Chennai

Vision and Interest

I am very keen to serve Lion's club so that Lion's Members and Lion's Ladies will enormously benefited and get relieved from health problems. Like Lion's International motto service above self, I am service minded with all Lion's health projects in Chennai.

My lecture demonstration with a personal touch for Lion's Members and Lion's Ladies will surely be beneficial.
